Here's my readers' digest backstory:

  • I grew up in a grain-farming family in the country and desperately wanted to live in the city. My vision was so clear that I intentionally didn't date guys I knew would stay in the country for the rest of their lives. Why bother, right?

  • I moved to the big city of Indianapolis in my early 20s and met my dream city boy, whom I promptly married two years later.

  • Said city boy began to beg me to move to the country! 2.5 years into marriage, I gave in.

  • We moved to the country and started our little family.

  • Fast forward a few years, and that city boy loves the country life so much that he wants to become a hobby farmer. The dream grows stronger and stronger for a few years.

  • Fast forward a few more years, County Corner Farm comes to life! Chickens, cows, pigs... oh, my life! How did I get here?

The truth is, I adore our little hobby farm. Working in such a digital-based profession, farming connects my body and soul to the physical world, and it is powerfully balancing for me.

Our first farming endeavor was meat chickens. We aimed to raise healthy chickens to feed our family for a year but soon realized we could expand that offering to others.

That decision initiated the need for a website and marketing. This was my reintroduction to Wix. I made a Wix site in 2011 but then transitioned to WordPress for future projects. I was ecstatic to see how much had changed and improved with Wix. Their design features were expansive, and it was so much fun for a website designer like myself! But the best part was the backend systems. I could run all our online and offline sales through their platform. All customer messaging could also be connected to it, helping me keep track of our very individualized ordering offerings. This tool may be the best-kept secret of small business management.

County Corner was the third business I started, and once again, just like The Elementary and LaFontaine Learning Community, my soul came to life. Pieces were starting to fall into place for what would become Starting Line Communications.

While social media was my primary marketing outlet, County Corner's reach spread faster than I expected, even making it into a local newspaper and The Okayest Cook Podcast!

We sold out of chickens quickly in our first season, doubled the amount we raised the next year, and quickly sold out again! Either people really love pricy healthy chickens around here, or I might know a thing or two about marketing.

Whether your business is big or super small, like our hobby farm, I would LOVE to bring it digitally to life and help you start your road to success!
